Systems Overload!

Systems Overload!

  • Multiple disparate systems in dealerships result in inconsistencies and inaccuracies
  • As many as 300 systems could be at work creating a mine of untapped information
  • System integration and the construction of one information depository delivers richly enhanced and accurate vehicle data and a reliable group inventory in real-time

With some dealers operating in excess of 300 systems in just one dealership, a wealth of useful and insightful data is gathered every day, but disparate systems, incompatibility and integration difficulties often means the information is fragmented, inconsistent and relatively unknown.

Our CEO Andy Whitehair: “Many systems are mandated by the OEM so dealers have different systems doing the same job across their businesses. There is so much information flowing around in these systems but dealers don’t know the sum of that information.

“Different systems often want the same information but for different reasons and the fields can be incompatible so dealership staff input the same data into multiple systems which is a waste of time and prone to human error.

“Unusually, one of the dealer groups we are talking to has undertaken a systems audit across its 35-strong dealership group representing around six brands and they have found in some of their businesses, as many as 300 systems are in use. It could well include applications like Outlook, but even so, that’s a phenomenal amount of information sitting in systems which invariably don’t talk to each other.”

Our technology integrates those different systems to create one source of truth for a vehicle where it can be seen in one place be that the manufacturer’s system, the dealer group’s own website or marketing channels.

By integrating with practically all systems operating in the dealership, we can take information from these different silos to create one depository of rich detail on each vehicle or what is referred to as a single source of truth. Dealers are alerted to inaccuracies and inconsistencies but it also builds a detailed description of each vehicle which can be fed into various online marketing channels thereby boosting enquiry conversion.

“A customer wants to know the story of a vehicle and that information does not come from the sub-systems. Our system builds that story around a vehicle from various different sources creating one single source of rich information that can be seen in one place. We are literally in the middle of multiple disparate systems making sense of everything.”

By creating one information silo, a group’s senior management team also has access to group information which would otherwise prove impossible to retrieve such as the number of overage vehicles in group stock, and would require employees to collate the information at dealership level and feedback to senior managers by which time it would be out of date.

“Such information is not held in one place where it is easily accessible. It limits how flexible a dealership or a group can be as they don’t have all the information they need at their fingertips. We solve problems for the dealer by knitting together the various portals and their different standards to create a single source of truth for a vehicle.”
